Registration
DNA IDENTIFICATION ACT Regulations Amending the DNA Identification Regulations (Miscellaneous Program) P.C. 2006-1040 September 21, 2006 Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, pursuant to section 12 of the DNA Identification Act (see footnote a), hereby makes the annexed Regulations Amending the DNA Identification Regulations (Miscellaneous Program). REGULATIONS AMENDING THE DNA IDENTIFICATION REGULATIONS (MISCELLANEOUS PROGRAM) AMENDMENTS 1. Paragraph 2(3)(b) of the English version of the DNA Identification Regulations (see footnote 1) is replaced by the following: (b) a sample from the convicted offender that is inserted into the sample collection media, referred to in subsection (2), and attached to the sample collection form; 2. Section 2.1 of the English version of the Regulations is replaced by the following: 2.1 If any sample and any fingerprints of the convicted offender were not taken by the same person, the fingerprint form referred to in paragraph 2(2)(d) shall contain the identification and signature of a person who witnessed both the taking of the sample and the taking of the fingerprints. COMING INTO FORCE 3. These Regulations come into force on the day on which they are registered. REGULATORY IMPACT ANALYSIS STATEMENT (This statement is not part of the Regulations.) Description All of the amendments to these Regulations make technical changes identified by the Standing Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations. They correct inconsistencies between the English and French versions, namely by adding to the English version part of a sentence contained in the French version. The omission in the English version was inadvertent. It is expected that these changes will have little impact on Canadians. This submission contains no financial implications requiring Treasury Board approval, and does not reflect any change in Government policy. Contact
