Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom, Canada and Her other Realms and Territories QUEEN, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith.

To All To Whom these Presents shall come or whom the same may in any way concern,

Greeting:

A Proclamation

Whereas February 6, 2002 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Our accession to the Throne;

Whereas the achievements of all Canadians over the course of the last fifty years have been distinguished and legion;

Whereas We wish to express Our thanks for the affection and loyalty We have enjoyed during Our reign;

Whereas We wish to invite Canadians to join in celebrations to mark this happy occasion over the course of this Our Golden Jubilee year and wish that as many people as possible will have the opportunity to participate in these celebrations;

Whereas We wish that celebrations of Our Golden Jubilee will create numerous opportunities for voluntary and community service;

And Whereas, by Order in Council P.C. 2002-135 of February 5, 2002, the Governor in Council has directed that a proclamation do issue requesting that the people of Canada join in celebrations over the course of 2002 to mark Our Golden Jubilee.

Now Know You that We, by and with the advice of Our Privy Council for Canada, do by this Our Proclamation thank Canadians for the affection and loyalty they have shown and invite Canadians to join Us in celebrations over the course of Our Golden Jubilee. We do hereby further encourage all citizens to take this opportunity to volunteer and partake in community service and to join with Us in recognition and commemoration of all that has been achieved by Canadians over the course of the last fifty years.

Of All Which Our Loving Subjects and all others whom these Presents may concern are hereby required to take notice and to govern themselves accordingly.

In Testimony Whereof, We have caused this Our Proclamation to be published and the Great Seal of Canada to be hereunto affixed. Witness: Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved Adrienne Clarkson, Chancellor and Principal Companion of Our Order of Canada, Chancellor and Commander of Our Order of Military Merit, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada.

At Our Government House, in Our City of Ottawa, this fifth day of February in the year of Our Lord two thousand and two and in the fiftieth year of Our Reign.
