Summary

CANARIE's mission is to accelerate Canada's advanced Internet development and use by facilitating the widespread adoption of faster, more efficient networks and by enabling the next generation of advanced products, applications and services to run on them.  CANARIE also acts as a catalyst and partner with governments, industry and the research community to increase overall IT awareness, ensure continuing promotion of Canadian technological excellence and ultimately, foster long-term productivity and improvement of living standards.

Programs:

• Advanced Networks - CA*net 4 - Canda's National Research and Innovation Network has 14 points of presence, one for each province, 1 in Ottawa and 3 in the United States, which provide international connectivity. CA*net4 is internationally recognized as a world leading advanced research and innovation network.
• Advanced Applications Development Program (AADP) - AADP stimulates the development of innovative advanced applications for important sectors of Canadian society, specifically, electronic commerce, learning and the emerging sectors of telehealth and intelligent systems. In implementing this project, CANARIE Inc. solicits proposals and select Sub-Projects within and across key sectors of the Canadian economy.
