Publications are defined as all products, regardless of publishing medium, containing information for public consumption or for limited circulation. The use of these identification numbers is mandated in the Treasury Board Communications Policy.   To apply for an ISBN or Government of Canada catalogue number, select one of the following options.   Register here if you're a first time user. Your contact information will be saved so that you don't have to enter it every time you make an application.   For users who have previously registered with us.   Please note that these forms are only for Canadian federal government publications. If you are publishing for the private sector you should contact the Canadian ISBN Agency.
