The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Toews (Minister of Justice), seconded by Mr. Solberg (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration), — That Bill C-9, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (conditional sentence of imprisonment), be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.
The debate continued.

Pursuant to Standing Order 30(5), the House proceeded to Oral Questions.
Mr. Pallister (Portage—Lisgar), from the Standing Committee on Finance, presented the Second Report of the Committee (Bill C-13, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on May 2, 2006, without amendment). — Sessional Paper No. 8510-391-29.
A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Meetings Nos. 7 to 9) was tabled.
Pursuant to Standing Order 36, petitions certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions were presented as follows:
— by Mr. Goodale (Wascana), one concerning a national child care program (No. 391-0125);
— by Mrs. Davidson (Sarnia—Lambton), one concerning the Canada Post Corporation (No. 391-0126);
— by Mr. Moore (Port Moody—Westwood—Port Coquitlam), one concerning the Criminal Code of Canada (No. 391-0127);

At 1:30 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.
The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development of Bill C-292, An Act to implement the Kelowna Accord.
Mr. Martin (LaSalle—Émard), seconded by Ms. Stronach (Newmarket—Aurora), moved, — That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development.
Debate arose thereon.
Pursuant to Standing Order 93(1), the Order was dropped to the bottom of the order of precedence on the Order Paper.
At 2:30 p.m., the Speaker adjourned the House until Monday at 11:00 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 24(1).
