Local Notices to Shipping - (NOTSHIP)

Notices to Shipping (NOTSHIP) are issued by the Canadian Coast Guard to alert mariners about hazards to navigation or other important information which may affect navigation.

This page contains written Notices to Shipping issued by Coast Guard Central and Arctic Region and information about regattas.

Written NOTSHIPS are issued when:

  • The notice to shipping concerns a location outside of the Marine Communications and Traffic Services (MCTS) radio broadcast network.
  • The notice to shipping is within the MCTS radio coverage network, but will not continue to be included as part of the broadcast provided by the MCTS Centre after 7 days.

Mariners within the area covered by the MCTS radio network should listen to the radio broadcasts and consult written NOTSHIP listings in order to be aware of all active notices to shipping.

Mariners are requested to notify the responsible authorities when new or suspected dangers to navigation are discovered, changes are observed in aids to navigation, or corrections to publications are seen to be necessary. Reports can be made to the nearest MCTS Centre.
