On July 1, 2005, Inuvik businessman,
Denny Rodgers, was appointed Chairperson of the Governance Council for a
two-year term. Having served as a public interest representative since May 2003,
Mr.Rodgers held the positions of Chairperson of the Finance and Audit Committee,
Vice Chairperson of the Council, and Acting Chairperson of the Governance Council
from May 1, 2005, until his formal appointment to Chairperson July 1.
George Kuksuk
of Arviat was appointed as a public interest representative in May 2004, for a three-year
term.
Labour representatives appointed were
Steve Petersen, a member of the Union of Northern Workers in May 2003. He
was re-appointed for a two-year term in May 2006. Also
Shona Barkley, a member of the Nunavut Employees' Union (six years) was
appointed in May 2006, for a three-year term.
Employer Representative, Bill
Aho of Yellowknife was appointed in May 2006, for a two-year term. Also,
Karin McDonald of Inuvik
was appointed as Employer Representative in October 2004, for a three-year term.
Public Interest Representative,
Willard Hagen of Inuvik was appointed in April 2006 for a two year term.
