Opening An Account

In Alberta, employers in most industries are required by law to have workers’ compensation coverage. However, depending on the nature of your business and how the business entity is structured, you may or may not require an account of your own.

Before applying for an account, ensure that you are eligible for coverage by reviewing our WCB Account Granting Guidelines.

Do not register for an account unless you employ workers in Alberta or are applying for personal coverage as an owner, partner or director.

Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
Javascript and pop-ups enabled

In most cases, a WCB representative will contact you within one business day to discuss your application.

Closing an Account

If your WCB - Alberta account is still open but your business has been sold or is no longer operating, please close your account by choosing one of the following methods:
