Updating Civilian Oversight of Canada's Military Police
|
This report highlights important issues that need to be addressed in civilian oversight of Canada’s military police to coincide with the five-year review of the National Defence Act. These issues are equal rights for subjects of complaints; oversight of informal resolution processes; monitoring of conduct complaints; scope of the Military Police Complaints Commission’s oversight role; expanded protection against interference from the military Chain of Command; and better public interest investigations with subpoena power. |
