Advertisement Requirements for Live-In Caregivers in Alberta/Northwest Territories

Regional Advertising Methods and Length of Time Position is Required to be Advertised Additional Advertising Requirements

  • Major Daily Newspaper - One weekend; Or
  • Rural Weekly Newspaper* - One week

    *You can bypass the requirement to advertise the position in a major daily newspaper if it is deemed that it would be more appropriate/ successful to advertise the job in a rural weekly newspaper.


  • Due to fluctuating labour market conditions, you may be required to augment advertising and recruitment efforts. In addition to requiring classified advertisements in local and/or rural newspapers, depending on labour market conditions you may be asked to consider options, such as: advertising at educational institutions for Caregivers and/or Rehabilitation Practitioners, or advertising at organizations such as “Calgary Immigration Women's Centre Domestic Workers Group”, Changing Together … a Centre for Immigrant Women.

  • A separate notice/advertisement must appear for each job available. Each advertisement must state the position title, wages, hours, and job duties, noting any special need situations, and an estimated start date for the job.
