New Brunswick mini-series wins at Geminis (06/10/27)

FREDERICTON (CNB) - Two members of the New Brunswick - produced mini-series Canada-Russia '72 have taken home Gemini Awards for their work. Judah Katz won for best supporting actor for his role as Alan Eagleson, and Dean Soltys won for Best Picture Editing in a Dramatic Program or Series.

The mini-series, which aired on CBC, was nominated in four categories: Best Direction in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series; Best Picture Editing in a Dramatic Program or Series; Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series; and Best Achievement in Casting.

"I want to offer my congratulations to Judah Katz, Dean Soltys, the producers, cast and crew for their strong showing at the Gemini Awards," Business New Brunswick Minister Greg Byrne said. "The Government of New Brunswick was very proud to invest in this very successful production through New Brunswick Film."

The mini-series has the chance to win one more Gemini when the awards resume Nov. 4. T.W. Peacocke is nominated for Best Direction in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series.
