FREDERICTON (CNB) -- The New Brunswick legislature will open on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, Government House Leader Stuart Jamieson announced today.

Opening ceremonies for the first session of the 56th Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick will begin with the delivery of the Speech from the Throne by Lt.-Gov. Herménégilde Chiasson.

"Beginning the legislative session in February allows us the sufficient time to put in place the framework of our Charter for Change," Jamieson said.. "The government has a number of pressing issues that require our undivided attention, and we are ensuring that our commitments to New Brunswickers are acted upon.

"This session will include our first throne speech, a capital and ordinary budget, and other initiatives as part of our plan for change for our province and its people."
