  Tutoring Work Experience Program (TWEP)
TWEP provides work experience for post secondary students by providing tutoring services in their hometowns, to high school students who are preparing for final exams. Tutors earn a stipend of $50 per week and tuition vouchers at a rate of $5.00 per hour to a maximum of $1050 over 6 weeks.

  Tutoring for Tuition Program  (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
The Tutoring for Tuition program provides, to Level I, II, and III students, the opportunity to earn tuition vouchers, at a rate of $6.00 per hour, by tutoring other students, ranging from primary to high school and including the IT Tutoring Program in computer technology. The Tutoring for Tuition Program is administered by the Youth Services Division of The Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment.

  Faculty of Education Co-op Program  (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
This program is offered to students of Memorial University of Newfoundland who are enrolled in the Faculty of Education. This Co-op program provides funding for student work-term placements which integrate both classroom and work sites in order to improve the student’s employability. The program compliments the mandatory internship placement of the bachelor of education program.

  Rural Practice Work Experience for Medical Students Program  (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
This summer program, administered by the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Boards Association and provides incentives for medical students to gain work experience while working in rural Newfoundland. The objective is to expose medical students to the opportunities in rural Newfoundland and Labrador while linking them to the provincial health care system and reducing their student debt through reimbursement in the form of combined wages and tuition vouchers.

  Student Employment Program (Level I, II, and III)  (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
This program is offered by the Youth Services Division of the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment to students currently enrolled in Level I, II, or III of high school. The program introduces youth into a working environment by providing a subsidy of 100% up to a maximum of $6.00 per hour towards the hourly wage rate for a maximum average of 40 hours per week, and a minimum average of 20 hours per week. Subsidy is offered for a minimum of 3 weeks and a maximum of 8 weeks.

  Social Worker Recruitment Program  (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
This program is offered by the Regional Health Boards to 4th year social work students in order to provide them with work experience in rural Newfoundland and Labrador for their final work placement. The objective of the program is to expose graduating students to employment opportunities in rural Newfoundland while reducing their student debt through reimbursement in the form of combined wages and tuition vouchers.

  Graduate Employment Program   (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
This program is offered by the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment to recent post secondary graduates as a way for them to gain valuable work experience in their field of study.   Newfoundland and Labrador Conservation Corps  (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
The Newfoundland and Labrador Conservation Corps’ mandate is to provide youth with meaningful work experience and training in areas of environmental, and cultural heritage enhancement and conservation. The Corps encourages initiative, self-reliance, and creativity in all employees and works with partners to develop long-term employment prospects for youth in their regions.

  Small Enterprise Co-op Placement Assistance Program (SECPAP)   (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
Memorial University and the College of the North Atlantic. The program is designed to expose young people in Newfoundland and Labrador to small business’ and self-employment as prospective career options. The provincially based co-operative work placements provide students with valuable work experience related to their current field of study. The private sector employers are provided with a 50% wage subsidy for students.

The Small Enterprise Co-op Placement Assistance Program (SECPAP) was implemented to provide work-term placements, generally of 12 - 16 weeks, to not-for-profit organizations in rural areas of the Province. This program is directly career-related and 100% of wages are subsidized.

  Partnership for Academic and Career Education and Employment Program (PACEE)  (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
This program offers full time work, on campus, for MUN students during the summer. Positions are for 8 weeks at a rate of $6.00/hour. This program keeps students in money over the summer and allows them to save a little for the Fall semester. In addition, it acts as a resume builder for those students who do not have much (if any) work experience.

  Linkages  (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
Linkages is a client centered program which collaborates with community based agencies that are interested in helping youth achieve their employment and career goals. Target youth clients are those aged 18-24 who have not completed post-secondary training, have not made a successful transition to the work force, and are not eligible for E.I. The program provides a wage subsidy of $5.00 per hour for 26 weeks of career-related employment

  Student Work and Service Program (SWASP) 
Paid Employment Component   (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
Under the Paid Employment component of SWASP, a wage subsidy of $3.00 per hour is provided to employers to hire students who intend to start or continue post-secondary studies. In addition to the wage subsidy, government provides a $50 weekly tuition voucher to the student. Additionally, employers have to pay minimum wage to students.   SWASP - Community Service Component  (Human Resources, Labour and Employment)
Through this program, persons entering or returning to post-secondary education within the next year, may earn a tuition voucher of $1,400 by performing 35 hours of service activity with a not-for-profit organization for an eight week period. The participants also receive $50 per week cash stipend to offset out-of-pocket expenses.

The Training Services Program offers support in obtaining post-secondary training or employment to individuals who are incapable of regularly pursuing and sustaining gainful occupation because of physical or mental impairment. Funding supports include, tuition fees, book costs, disability related supports, attendant care, and transportation.

  Job Experience and Employment in the Public Service (JEEPS) (Public Service Commission)
Job Experience and Employment in the Public Service (JEEPS) for persons with disabilities is a referral service provided by the Treasury Board, to the Public Service Commission of Canada (PSC). This program appoints qualified persons to and within the Federal Public Service in order to provide valuable work experience to persons with limiting disabilities.

 Getting the Message Out (GMO)  (Innovation, Trade, and Rural Development)
The Getting the Message Out program is a marketing and communications program that promotes awareness about what is happening in Newfoundland and Labrador. This program includes the promotions of education, economic development initiatives and entrepreneurial opportunities.

The GMO program aims to deliver the message that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have the expertise and work ethic to succeed in today’s global market.

  The Canada-Newfoundland Community Access Program (CAP)   (Education)
The community access program is a joint initiative of the federal and provincial governments to help people in communities across Newfoundland and Labrador achieve the economic and social benefits that are available through the World Wide Web. The program is part of Connecting Canadians, a national strategy to make Canada the most electronically connected country on earth.
The CAP Youth Initiative provides youth with an opportunity to work at various CAP sites across the province. Positions are available for 12 or 21 weeks and focus on training the public in the use of computers and the internet, as well as promoting the CAP site throughout the community.

  Torngat Recreation Commission (TRC)  (Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs)
The TRC is comprised of Recreational Directors representing the Inuit communities along the North Coast of Labrador who are involved in planning events, training sessions and competitions. The mandate of the TRC is “to develop a delivery mechanism to build Leadership Capacity in the six Inuit North Coast communities through Community Partnership, Training, Community Activities and Sport Programming.” This initiative provides the opportunity for residents of these communities to work together.

  Junior Forest Wardens (JFW) Program   (Natural Resources)
The JFW program is a forestry program, offered to youth aged 6-18, which emphasizes the responsible use of our natural resources. Through hands-on activities, outdoor recreation, environmental projects, community events and weekly club meetings the program aims to provide the experience and knowledge necessary to properly care for local woodlands.

  Targeted Wage Subsidy Initiative   (Justice)
This program, offered through the Employment Equity and Strategic Initiatives Division of the Treasury Board, provides wage subsidies of between 50 and 80 percent to Provincial Departments in order for them to hire persons with disabilities. Employment may be for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of one year. This program aims to provide experience that will be viewed by potential future employers as “significant”.

  Association For New Canadians: Employment Plus - Skills for Change    (Justice)
Through this program employment assistance services are offered to newcomers who are foreign trained professionals or trades people. The objective is to prepare and encourage those who are actively re-training or pursuing post secondary studies. This program has been in operation for six years and has helped a substantial number of newcomers make successful career transitions.

  Single Parent Employment Support program (SESP)  (Justice)
The SESP program is designed to assist single parents, recieving Income Support, attain and maintain employment by offering an in-class training progam and intensive job search resources. The program also provides Earned Income Supplements to ease te financial transaction from Income Support to full employment.
