The Department of Justice believes it is of fundamental importance to Nunavummiut that their laws be accessible. Therefore, to improve access to the laws of Nunavut, the statutes and regulations of Nunavut and the consolidations of the statutes and regulations of the Northwest Territories as amended, adopted or enacted for Nunavut as of April 1, 1999, may be copied freely for personal use. There is no requirement to seek permission and there are no fees to be paid for reproductions of the statutes and regulations for personal use.

The electronic versions of the statutes and regulations may not be copied for the purpose of resale in this or any other form without the written consent of the Territorial Printer.

  1. for statutes made before April 1, 1999, the Revised Statutes of the Northwest Territories, 1988 and the Annual Volumes of the Statutes of the Northwest Territories;

  2. for statutes made on or after April 1, 1999, the annual Statutes of Nunavut and copies of the Acts certified by the Clerk of the Legislative assembly.

The authoritative text of regulations must be ascertained from the following sources:

  1. for regulations made before April 1, 1999, the Revised Regulations of the Northwest Territories, 1990 and the monthly publication of Part II of the Northwest Territories Gazette;

  2. for regulations made on or after April 1, 1999, the monthly publication of Part II of the Nunavut Gazette.
