Important Information for New and Existing Clients

Technology Partnerships Canada (TPC) is currently under review as the program's terms and conditions expire December 31, 2006.

While all existing contracted TPC projects will continue, the TPC program is closed to new outlines with the exception of aerospace and defence (A&D) outlines, which will be accepted pending the outcome of the government's decision on an A&D Strategic Framework. Investment outlines already accepted by TPC will be assessed and duly processed and proposals that are in the negotiation and due diligence phase of the application process will continue to be processed. Business will continue as usual for the h2EA program, which operates under separate terms and conditions.

Further details will be available in 2007.

About TPC

TPC is a special operating agency of Industry Canada with a mandate to provide funding support for strategic research and development (R&D), and demonstration projects that will produce economic, social and environmental benefits to Canadians.

TPC's activity is rooted in helping Canadian companies perform R&D that brings new technologies closer to the marketplace. These R&D projects have the potential to improve the efficiency of production processes in traditional sectors as well as support innovation in emerging technologies. Canadian industries take the lead in bringing innovation forward to the marketplace, while TPC acts as a catalyst, investing strategically to accelerate the successful development of key technologies that will benefit Canadians in their everyday lives.

Summary

TPC offers two main programs as part of its ongoing mandate:

  • R&D program: Geared to pre-competitive projects across a wide spectrum of technological developments. Each dollar invested by TPC leverages additional investments both nationally and internationally, encouraging large companies and SMEs alike to grow, explore good ideas and develop them into practical technologies.
  • H2 Early Adopters (h2EA): Designed to foster the development and early adoption of hydrogen and hydrogen compatible technologies into the marketplace. Working in partnership with industry, the program supports demonstration projects that illustrate the potential benefits of hydrogen and the infrastructure components required to produce, store and distribute hydrogen as a fuel source.
