we do?
NEDA
is a strong advocacy group for EDO's. It is committed to lobbying
on behalf of its members, by:
- Voicing
EDO's concerns,
- Emphasizing
the value of their jobs,
- Making
others aware of the EDO's role,
- Making
others aware of EDO's potential to contribute to Nunavut's economy,
- Seeking
more understanding and input into economic development funding

While
NEDA is a young organization - it officially became a society in
January 2000 - it has accomplished much, including:
- Launching
a Web site in 1999 that contains access to business development
information, resources and tools, that EDO's can use in the field;
- Creating
a CD-Rom resource toolkit "by EDO's for EDO's"
- Formed
partnerships with training and funding organisations to meet the
EDO's educational needs;
- Formed
partnerships with national training organisations;
- Hosts
an annual conference for NEDA members;
- Co-hosts
three regional conferences that give the EDO's a chance to learn
about new programs and policies presented by economic development
organisations and funding agencies;
- Undertaking
a skills Inventory of all of the Nunavut EDO's;
- Produces
quarterly NEDA Newsletters which showcases upcoming events and
training initiatives all across Nunavut;
- Hold
every year, several training programs for the EDO's at the annual
conference
