International Market Research

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT)

Last Verified: 2005-06-22

International Trade Canada's (ITCan) Market Research Centre (TMR) produces a full range of sectoral market information products to help Canadian exporters identify foreign market opportunities. Reports contain a market overview, a section on customers and distribution channels, an analysis of the principal market-access issues, and a listing of key promotional venues. Reports also include the names of local importers and information on their size, product range and territory. TMR also produces other information products including: market briefs and country sector profiles, more concise documents intended for niche markets and/or to provide a quick snapshot of a particular sector in a given region.

Eligibility Criteria

Canadian companies.

Eligible Area

All Canadian provinces and territories.

Eligible Activities

Preparation to export of goods and/or services.

Summary

Canadian exporters need reliable, up-to-date information on foreign markets to compete abroad. TMR's market information is critical to any business, and especially to those entering foreign market.

Benefits to Exporters

Market information helps small- and medium- sized enterprises focus on new export opportunities, complementing their own market research. Companies can minimize expending their resources exploring markets where there is no demand for their product or service.

How to Obtain Reports

Market information is available through the Trade Commissioner Service's Virtual Trade Commissioner (VTC), and through Infoexport.
