The Entrepreneur Program is designed to help unemployed persons create their own job by starting a business. The program provides a Loan Guarantee of up to $10 000.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals who reside in New Brunswick over the age of 19 and are currently unemployed.

Summary

How does the program work?
An applicant may receive a Loan Guarantee of up to $10,000. The loan is guaranteed by the government of New Brunswick for two years and is interest-free to the borrower for the first year. The eligible financial institutions that are authorized to advance loans under the program are:

All branches of the Royal Bank of Canada;
All branches of the National Bank of Canada, and;
Specific Caisses Populaires.

What type of businesses can I start?
Most industry sectors qualify. Seasonal businesses do not qualify.

How do I apply?
Pick up an application booklet at any of the Community Economic Development Agencies (CEDAs), the Community Business Development Corporations (CBDCs) listed below or the Canada/New Brunswick Business Service Centre (1-800-668-1010). The booklet includes directions on preparing a business plan and further details about the program.

The program assessment and recommendations are currently provided to Business New Brunswick by the Community Business Development Corporations, but if you need assistance on the business plan or further development you can contact your local Enterprise Agency.
