Market Development & Product Promotion (BDF Schedule C)

The Market Development and Product Promotion Program (Business Development Fund) is designed to assist businesses to generate sales of Nunavut products in mew markets or develop markets for new products.  The program may also assist in the marketing of existing tourism, arts and crafts, and renewable resource programs.

All Nunavut businesses and residents are eligible for funding.

Summary

What is the maximum contribution?

$15,000 per year to a maximum of $45,000 over three years.

What are the limitations?

Assistance to trade show participants will be limited to the eligible costs for a maximum of two people. This is also limited to the duration of the trade show plus one day of set up time and two days travel. Contributions for trade show participation are limited to the per diem allowance approved for Government of Nunavut Employees on duty travel.

What is the minimum equity that I must provide to the project?

Applicants may normally receive funding for projects up to a maximum of:

• Group 1 Communities 30%
• Group 2 & 3 Communities 70%
• Group 4 Communities 97.5%

How can the funds be used?

Assistance is available for (but not limited to):

• Undertaking a marketing campaigns
• Ongoing merchandising programs such as product demonstrations and industry tagging and product demonstrations
• Professional marketing fees
• Creation of promotional materials such as catalogues, displays, brochures, sales kits,
• Costs related to booth space and transportation of product samples
• Design and development of new packaging, consumer evaluation and test marketing.
• Encouraging and preparing for incoming trade missions, familiarization tours and participation in export market exploration.

What information do I need to provide?

Applicants must submit a completed and signed application form.

Applicants will normally be expected to provide a three year marketing plan which shows how the proposed project will assist the applicant to penetrate a new market or market a product.

A level 3 audit will be required as well.

You may be asked to provide additional information, appropriate to the nature and amount of required assistance.
