Trade Up to Your Future

To increase opportunities for women’s economic independence and to address women’s under representation in the skilled trades, the Directorate has developed a pre-trades training program for women.

The program fosters an interest among women in non-traditional careers and creates a supportive environment both in the classroom and in industry.

Trade Up provides pre-employment training for women who are, typically, unfamiliar with industrial occupations. The training consists of five months of shops, upgrading classes and workplace readiness.   Following the five-month course, work placements are found for the graduates.
