Saskatchewan Pension Plan

SPP is a voluntary, money purchase plan designed to provide a pension plan for individuals with little or no access to private pensions or other retirement savings arrangements. The Plan is available to anyone between 18 and 69 years of age. Eligibility is not dependent upon residency, income, employment status, gender or membership in other plans.

Since 1986, SPP has grown to $259 million in assets and 30,000 members. (View rate of return history.)

The Plan is designed for flexibility, so that members can make it fit their life situation and budget. SPP is:

  • Voluntary - no obligation to contribute;
  • Flexible - payment at any time during the plan year;
  • Portable - people can join and contribute to the Plan regardless of where they reside; and
  • Professionally managed - The 2005 return was 10.1%.

  • January 16, 2006 - The estimated rate of return to members in 2005 is 10%.

  • December 16, 2005 - The Third Quarter UpdateIt includes an update on investment performance to September 30, 2005.

    October 18, 2005 - The October 2005 Newsletter is now available. It includes an update on investment performance to June 30, 2005.

  • May 26, 2005 - The May 2005 Newsletter is now available. It includes an update on investment performance to March 31, 2005.

  • April 4, 2005 - The 2004 Annual Report and a list of investment holdings are now available.

  • March 2, 2005 - The 2004 rate of return was 10.3%. The quarterly update for December 31, 2004 is included in the March 2005 newsletter. A complete list of the Plan's investment holdings at December 31, 2004 is available.

  • January 17, 2005 - The estimated rate of return for 2004 is 10%.
