The Fair Practice Office investigates, mediates and adjudicates complaints of discrimination made by residents of Nunavut in all areas (i.e. employment, accommodations, services and facilities).
Under the authority of the Fair Practices Act, the Officer has the power to issue orders which have the same force and effect as court orders.

If you have any questions, complaints or need more information about being treated unfairly due to your sex, religion, race or creed, the Fair Practices Office can help you. As well, their rental office can give you important information you need to know as a tenant or landlord. The Fair Practices Office acts as a source of information for all parties involved concerning their rights and responsibilities.
The essence of the Fair Practices legislation is focused on finding a remedy for the affront to human dignity, the Act does provide for a punitive prosecutorial remedy. However, prosecutions cannot proceed without the written consent of The Commissioner.
