Subject: Publication of Regulatory Guide G-144, Trip Parameter Acceptance Criteria for the Safety Analysis of CANDU Nuclear Power Plants

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has published a new Regulatory Guide, G-144, Trip Parameter Acceptance Criteria for the Safety Analysis of CANDU Nuclear Power Plants.

The purpose of this Regulatory Guide is to provide guidance to licensees who operate CANDU nuclear power plants regarding reactor trip parameters that will preclude direct or consequential failures of reactor fuel or reactor pressure tubes.

The CNSC issued Draft Regulatory Guide G-144, Trip Parameter Acceptance Criteria for the Safety Analysis of CANDU Nuclear Power Plants, for public comment in July 2005. The comments received were taken into account in finalizing the document.

Regulatory Guide G-144, Trip Parameter Acceptance Criteria for the Safety Analysis of CANDU Nuclear Power Plants is available in English or French on the CNSC web site www.nuclearsafety.gc.ca. A paper copy of the document in either official language may be ordered from:
