Draft Environmental Assessment Guidelines
Point Lepreau

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) invites public comment on the draft environmental assessment guidelines (scope document) for the proposed modifications and construction of new structures at the Solid Radioactive Waste Management Facility in Point Lepreau, New Brunswick. Because this project requires registration under the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation of the New Brunswick Clean Environment Act, the federal and provincial environmental assessment processes are being carried out in a harmonized and co-operative manner.

The public comment period on the draft guidelines closes on March 8, 2002.

Staff from CNSC and the New Brunswick Department of Environment and Local Government will review all comments prior to the environmental assessment guidelines being finalized and submitted by CNSC staff to the Commission for approval. All comments received regarding the guidelines are public information.
