Draft Screening Report – Proposed Refurbishment Waste Storage Project at the Western Waste Management Facility on the Bruce Power Site

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) invites public comment on the Draft Screening Report concerning the Environmental Assessment of the proposed construction and operation of additional facilities for Refurbishment Waste Storage (RWS) at the Western Waste Management Facility on the Bruce Power Site near Tiverton Ontario. This environmental assessment is being conducted pursuant to the requirements of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

The Draft Screening Report is based on an Environmental Assessment Study Report prepared by Ontario Power Generation in response to Environmental Assessment Guidelines approved and issued by the CNSC Designated Officer in January 2005.

Interested parties should address their written comments to the CNSC environmental assessment project manager at the address indicated below. The public comment period ends January 13, 2006. CNSC staff will review comments and address all comments received before finalizing the Screening Report and forwarding it to the CNSC Designated Officer for approval and decision under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. All comments received regarding the Screening Report are considered public information.
