Statement by the Minister of Industry on the 27th Anniversary of Small Business Week

Today, Minister Maxime Bernier issued the following statement to mark the start of Small Business Week.

"Begun in 1979, Small Business Week is an acknowledgement of the important contributions Canadian entrepreneurs make to our national economy.

"The outstanding business achievement, creative spirit and community involvement of Canada's entrepreneurs is the core of our growing economy. Their courage and vision inspired this year's Small Business Week theme, 'A world without boundaries, open to new markets.'

"Entrepreneurship is an outlook on life. It is the ability to see opportunities in your environment, in your community, and use them to create something new or make something better."

"As Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Business Development Bank of Canada, I envision Canada as a leader in the 21st century, championing the values of entrepreneurship in a time of tremendous opportunity."
