Health Minister Announces Appointment of Shakti Wadehra to the Council of the Ontario College of Pharmacists

TORONTO – Award-winning, community-minded executive Shakti Wadehra has been appointed as a member of the Council of the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Health and Long-Term Care Minister George Smitherman announced today.

“Mr. Wadehra has a record of dedicated community service,” said Smitherman. “The Ontario College of Pharmacists will benefit from the wealth of experience and skills Mr. Wadehra brings as a Senior Executive and volunteer.”

The Ontario College of Pharmacists regulates the profession of pharmacy by ensuring that individuals have access to services provided by competent health professionals, and that individuals are treated with sensitivity and respect in their dealings with health professionals. Members of the college are governed in accordance with the Pharmacy Act, the Health Professions Procedural Code, the Regulated Health Professions Act, and the regulations and by-laws of the college.

Mr. Wadehra is a resident of Windsor and currently works as a business consultant and entrepreneur after more than 30 years in various senior management positions with the DaimlerChrysler organization. Mr. Wadehra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Automotive Engineering, Masters degree in Systems Design and Development and an MBA in Marketing and Operations from the University of Detroit in Michigan, USA.

“I am honoured to be appointed to the Council of the Ontario College of Pharmacists,” said Wadehra. “The college plays a vital role in the development and maintenance of standards of practice for Pharmacists, and I look forward to helping ensure that those standards are upheld.”

Mr. Wadehra’s community activities include involvement with Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital on their Patient Safety and Community Care Committee since 2005, membership on the Human Resources Development Canada Employment Insurance Board of Referees since 2004, and previous involvement with the Transit Windsor Board of Directors, Windsor and District Chamber of Commerce, United Way Canada, The Easter Seal Society Ontario and the Kidney Foundation of Canada Board of Directors.
