“The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Hebrew Bible”
A discussion at the Canadian Museum of Civilization

Gatineau, Quebec, January 30, 2004 — First discovered in 1948, the Dead Sea Scrolls have long fascinated both scholars and the public alike. Join Dr. Peter Flint of Canada’s Dead Sea Scrolls Institute for an enlightening discussion on the links between “The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Hebrew Bible” at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Theatre on Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 6:30 p.m.

A professor of Biblical Studies at Trinity Western University and a leading expert in his field, Dr. Flint is co-author of The Meaning of the Scrolls and The Dead Sea Scrolls Bible. He is one of only 70 Dead Sea Scrolls editors worldwide to have worked on this ancient material that had been lost for over 2,000 years. Following the presentation, Dr. Flint will autograph copies of his books, available at the Museum boutique.

The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Hebrew Bible presentation and related lectures by biblical scholars and archaeological experts are organized in conjunction with Ancient Treasures and the Dead Sea Scrolls, an exhibition of priceless archaeological discoveries from the Israel Museum, Jerusalem that cover more than 1,000 years in the evolution of Judaism and early Christianity. The exhibition is presented at the Museum until April 12, 2004.

Admission to the Museum is free every Thursday after 4 p.m. Admission to the lectures is also free. There is no reserved seating. This lecture is presented in English with simultaneous translation into French.

Due to unprecedented interest in Ancient Treasures and the Dead Sea Scrolls, the exhibition will remain open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings until 7 p.m. Regular admission fees apply.

For more information, the public can call 776-7000 or 1-800-555-5621.
