Ottawa, Ontario, April 6, 2004 — On April 9, the Canadian War Museum (CWM) will open a special exhibition entitled Missing-in-Action. This exhibition will provide visitors to the Museum with information about seven key artifacts that were removed on April 5 and 6 and that will be used in the new Museum currently under construction on LeBreton Flats and opening in May 2005.
"The purpose of this exhibition is two-fold,” said Joe Geurts, Director and CEO of the CWM. “Due to the tight schedule to meet our May 2005 opening date, it was necessary to remove seven large artifacts from the current location on Sussex Drive. Not wanting to disturb our visitors, we decided to fill those spaces with details on how these artifacts will be used in the new Museum. This exhibition will also highlight the work of our architects and of our exhibition design team, and show visitors how the new Museum will become a must-see destination in the National Capital Region. We hope that visitors will be as excited as we are with the project."
The exhibition begins on Friday, April 9 and it will continue until the closing of the Sussex Drive location on Labour Day Monday, September 6, 2004.
