Flick Software works with Intel® to develop prototype mobile technology solution for Canadian Museum of Civilization

OTTAWA, April 20, 2004 - Flick Software, a leading, Ottawa-based mobile software solution provider, announced today it has developed a portable interactive guide, using Intel Centrino mobile technology. A prototype of this technology will be tested by museum specialists at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, in Gatineau, Quebec, the largest and most visited museum in Canada.

"For the past few years, the Canadian Museum of Civilization had been looking to find new ways for visitors to gain access to more of the rich information about their exhibits," said Jason Flick, President of Flick Software. "The Canadian Museum of Civilization is very forward thinking and this potential solution could add an exciting new element to a museum visit."

Flick Software's small interactive device with the Mobile Interactive GuideTM, could allow the user to learn about museum artifacts, find exhibits on a locator map, check IMAX schedules, and even play museum games, such as a treasure hunt or a trivia competition.

"Museum staff will test this prototype to see how such a hand-held guide could allow us to give visitors more details and in-depth information about the artifacts, themes and stories in our exhibitions," said Dr. Victor Rabinovitch, President of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation. "The Canadian Museum of Civilization is the most successful museum in the country, partly because we are always searching for ways to improve the experience for our visitors," he said.

Working with Intel in California, Flick Software was able to optimize the processing technology for handheld devices, thus quickly enabling rich information to be displayed for the user. Intel is the world's largest chip maker, and is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking and communications products, including mobile technology.

"We are pleased that Flick Software has taken advantage of the Intel Early Access Program to develop their application optimized for both the Intel® Xscale® and Centrino(tm) Mobile Technology. We hope this innovative solution enhances the overall experience of visiting the museum," said Melissa Laird, general manager, Solution Enabling Division, Intel Corporation.

TrueContext, an Ottawa-based company, developed a custom solution for the management and distribution of the information between the device and the museums' technology infrastructure.

"With the help of Intel and TrueContext's mExperience(tm), and our easy-to-use application, we have developed something unique and attractive to both the museum visitor and the museum," said Mr. Flick. "We see a market for this in museums, zoos and other facilities where a mobile information guide might be needed."
