Dancing to the Rhythms of New France Gatineau, Quebec, July 5, 2004 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization would like to invite you to experience part of the culture of New France with a special music and dance activity held as part of the exhibition Once In French America.
On July 11 at 2 p.m., the eminent Québecois dance troupe Danse Cadence and accompanying musicians will be in the Museum’s Grand Hall to lead you in a series of dance movements from the eighteenth century. Specializing in traditional Québecois dance, as well as in classical dance from the Baroque and Renaissance periods, Danse Cadence will whisk you away to another era in what promises to be an afternoon of history, imagination and entertainment.

The exhibition Once in French America celebrates the 400th anniversary of French settlement in North America. By bringing together artifacts from over 40 different collections, it looks at how people lived and adapted in this new land and how they developed societies. The exhibition will be presented at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Gatineau, Quebec, until March 28, 2005.
