Blackfoot Culture Explored Gatineau, Quebec, October 12, 2004 - Join us at the Canadian Museum of Civilization this Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for activities organized in conjunction with the newly opened exhibition The Blackfoot Way of Life: Nitsitapiisinni.
Saturday and Sunday, October 16 and 17 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Southern Salon Crafts: For a long time, the Blackfoot recorded important events by painting symbols on buffalo hides called winter counts. Like a journal, they document a person's or a community's history. In this workshop, children and their families can record their own history by painting traditional Blackfoot designs on their own winter counts. (bilingual)
Entertainment: Meet Sandra Crazy Bull who will lead you on an exploration of her cultural heritage through music, dance and games. (in English)
Previously on display in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, and in Manchester, England, The Blackfoot Way of Life: Nitsitapiisinni will be at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec from October 8, 2004 to February 13, 2005. The CMC is the only North American venue for this travelling exhibition from the Glenbow Museum in Calgary, Alberta.
