Court dancing and other aspects of life in New France Gatineau, Quebec, November 16, 2004 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization invites one and all to enjoy aspects of life in New France with a series of special public programmes related to the evocative and artifact-rich exhibition Once in French America, which is on display until March 28, 2005.
Court Dances in French America Thursday, November 25 – 7:30 p.m. Join Les Barricades Mistérieuses for an evening filled with the beauty, grace and elegance of dances of the 17th and 18th centuries. Free Admission. Grand Hall
A Taste of History December 1 (in English) and 2 (in French) – 6:30 p.m. Taste cuisine from the New France era and enjoy an evening of good food and culture. Tickets: $20, available at the Museum Box Office, (819) 776-7000. Cascades Salon
Once in French America is a major exhibition that marks the 400th anniversary of French settlement in North America by looking at how people lived and developed new societies. It presents an unprecedented array of 500 artifacts dating from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, from 40 collections in Canada, the USA and Europe. Gallery C until March 28, 2005
