Last weeks of popular Across Time and Tundra exhibition Gatineau, Quebec, December 20, 2004 — The holidays are a perfect time to visit Across Time and Tundra: The Inuvialuit of the Canadian Arctic, an exhibition presented at the Canadian Museum of Civilization (CMC) until January 9, 2005.
Across Time and Tundra is the most important exhibition ever presented on the history and culture of this dynamic and enterprising people. The Inuvialuit are the Inuit (“Eskimos”) living in the Western Canadian Arctic, west of the new territory of Nunavut in the Northwest Territories. The exhibition chronicles the successes and challenges of this vibrant community, while focusing on questions of identity and cultural survival that are of concern to peoples everywhere.
With more than 200,000 visitors since its opening at the CMC in November 2003, Across Time and Tundra is the first CMC exhibition to present the substantive history — from earliest times to the present day — of a particular Aboriginal group in Canada.
The last day to visit the exhibition is Sunday, January 9, 2005.
