An up close and personal evening with Kathy Reichs Gatineau, Quebec, January 14, 2003 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization (CMC) is proud to present an evening Up Close and Personal with Kathy Reichs, internationally recognized forensic anthropologist and best-selling crime writer, on January 23, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. in the CMC Theatre.
A forensic anthropologist for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, State of North Carolina, and for the Laboratoire des Sciences Judiciaires et de Médecine Légale for the province of Quebec, Kathy Reichs is an internationally popular author of five crime novels: Déjà Dead, Death du Jour, Deadly Decisions, Fatal Voyage and, most recently, Grave Secrets. Her work as a forensic anthropologist is internationally recognized. She has traveled to Rwanda to testify at the UN Tribunal on Genocide, has helped identify individuals from mass graves in Guatemala, and has done forensic work at Ground Zero in New York.
Ms. Reichs will read excerpts from her bestsellers, talk about her work and provide insights into new technologies in forensic science. She will be interviewed by Dave Stephens, host of Ontario Today on CBC Radio, and will answer questions from the audience. This event has been organized in conjunction with The Mysterious Bog People exhibition, which presents scientific techniques and forensic analysis used to determine the age of the objects found in the bogs and the physical characteristics of human remains. The exhibition is open to the public until September 1, 2003.
