Explore the Rhythms of Life on a World Beat Journey around the World

Gatineau (Quebec), June 18, 2003 — On June 28, 2003, the IMAX Theatre at the Canadian Museum of Civilization will present the Canadian première of the new large-format film Pulse: a STOMP Odyssey. Celebrating the rhythms of life on every continent, Pulse: a STOMP Odyssey explores the sights and sounds of world beat music from Asia to Latin America. Guided by the performers of the internationally-acclaimed stage show STOMP, audiences will travel a world brought brilliantly to life on the large-format screen as they discover the universal language of rhythm.

Pulse is a unique and extraordinary experience: a visual and auditory celebration of diversity and culture, rhythm and humanity. It introduces audiences to percussion groups from locales and backgrounds as disparate as Timbalada of Brazil and the Kodo drummers of Japan, and from the American Indian Dance Theater to the Jackie Robinson Steppers of New York.

In addition to providing stunning large-format visuals and unparalleled sound, recorded live on location, Pulse chronicles a world without boundaries or prejudices, and evokes the global spirit within us all. The film’s energy and message serve as an outstanding and timely reminder of the fundamental harmony that can exist across time, space, and society.

Taking advantage of the large-format medium, Pulse doesn’t replicate the stage show, but rather takes audiences on a global journey, exploring the richness and diversity of the world’s rhythm, music, dance and cultural events. Pulse: a STOMP Odyssey encourages audiences of all ages to listen to the world differently, while also seeing the world as one.

Produced by Giant Screen Films, which also produced Michael Jordan to the Max, Pulse: a STOMP Odyssey will be playing throughout the summer season at the Canadian Museum of Civilization’s IMAX Theatre, alongside Adrenaline: The Science of Risk and Bears.
