Ethnology collection


Collecting undertaken by the Canadian Ethnology Service has documented the cultural heritage of 110 different Native peoples and 10 Inuit regions. The collection of approximately 54,000 items includes a comprehensive collection of some 6,000 Indian or Inuit prints as well as sculptures and other contemporary artworks. Some reference pieces from other countries are also held.




Pouch, knife, sheath, silver ornaments, and plume
are part of the collection gathered by Sir John Caldwell
from the First Peoples of the Eastern Great Lakes region
in the 1770s.
