Alain Lamontagne Performs His Musical Tales at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Hull, Quebec, January 21, 2002 Alain Lamontagne captivates children and delights their parents when he spins his fantastical tales, accompanied by foot tapping and harmonica. Come share in the fun on January 27, 2002 at the Canadian Museum of Civilization (CMC).
Alain Lamontagne first performed at the CMC in 1989 at the Museum’s opening celebrations. He is back again with supernatural and surreal tales that verge on the absurd. His musical surprises make the stories even livelier. Harmonica virtuoso, poet, storyteller, composer, singer and entertainer, Lamontagne is also a “foot percussionist” whose rhythms have enchanted more than 120,000 children throughout the French-speaking world.
This man of a thousand talents has performed on stages around the globe: in Cuba, Switzerland, Belgium, France, several countries in North Africa and the rest of the African continent, the former Soviet Union, Japan, and a variety of festivals across Canada.
With several CDs to his credit, including Musique-à-bouche and Souffle, this Montreal native has won high praise and a Félix award for best instrumental album in 1983. He toured Quebec in 1983-84 with Michel Donato, and the duo collaborated on the CD De toute beauté the following year. Lamontagne has also accompanied big-name performers such as Paul Piché, Claude Gauthier and Gilles Vigneault, and he has composed extensively for television, film and theatre.
