Three Speakers, Three Large-format Films, Three Incredible Adventures


Gatineau, September 5, 2002 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization’s IMAX Theatre is proud to present the IMAX Adventure Series. During the weekends of September 13–14, 20–21, and 27–28, visitors are invited to the Canadian Museum of Civilization where three speakers, three large-format films and three incredible adventures await!

On September 13 and 14, Ben Webster, a renowned local climber who conquered Mount Everest at 8:34 a.m. on May 17, 2000 will be at the Canadian Museum of Civilization for three hour-long lectures on his expedition and the challenges he encountered. A private screening of the large-format film Everest will follow.

On September 20 and 21, Dr. Stephen R. Inglis, Director General of Research and Collections at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, will introduce armchair adventurers to the timeless land of India. His observations as an anthropologist and curator will transport audiences into the heart of this country of countless cultures and traditions. A private screening of India – Kingdom of the Tiger will follow.

To conclude our IMAX Adventure Series, the Students on Ice team will take visitors on an unforgettable journey to the planet’s southernmost continent: Antarctica. Geoff Green and Chris Ralph will guide audiences through their different expeditions, as well as through Chris’ logistical responsibilities during the shooting of the film Shackleton’s Antarctic Adventure. A private screening of the film will follow.
