Canadian Women of African Descent
Discover personal facets of the immigrant experience of Canadian women born in African societies. These women left their native countries to settle in Canada. Like many other Canadians of various origins, their profile has been shaped by a great diversity of languages, ethnic groups, religions and cultures. Through personal objects, letters, postcards and family photos the women interviewed here share their life stories.
As well as allowing us to understand these women’s journeys, this project is also thought-provoking because it contributes to the development of museological approaches featuring citizen participation, encounters and creativity.
In memoriam, Dr. Aïda Kaouk
