Discover the Art of the Scribe at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Gatineau, Quebec, March 2, 2004 — For the next three Sundays beginning March 7, Ottawa artist and scribe Rabbi Elie Benzaquen will be at the Canadian Museum of Civilization to demonstrate the ancient arts of writing and repairing Torah scrolls.
Rabbi Benzaquen attended the Sancho Academy of Art in Venezuela. He studied computer graphics at the Dawson School of Applied Arts, and fine art at Portraits International, both in Montreal. His training also included two years of study of classical academic art at the Algonquin School of Applied Arts in Ottawa, Ontario.
Discover the art of the Scribe Sunday March 7, 14 and 21, 2004 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.This activity is organized in conjunction with Ancient Treasures and the Dead Sea Scrolls, an exhibition of priceless archaeological discoveries from the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, that cover more than 1,000 years in the evolution of Judaism and early Christianity. The exhibition is presented at the Museum until April 12, 2004. Museum admission is half-price on Sundays.
