Our Nationhood An Aboriginal film at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Gatineau, Quebec, September 16, 2004 - On September 29, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada, invites you to view Our Nationhood, a fascinating feature documentary on a people determined to affirm themselves on their own terms and to share in the natural resources of their traditional lands.
Presented as part of Where the Rivers Meet: An Aboriginal Film Series, Our Nationhood is written, directed and produced by Aboriginal artist and film-maker Alanis Obomsawin, a member of the Abenaki Nation and one of Canada's most distinguished documentary film-makers. In the film, Ms. Obomsawin explains the process of dialogue and negotiation between the Mi'gmaq of Listuguj and the Quebec government and raises the issue of leadership on reserves. She will be available to answer questions from the audience following both the English and French viewings of the film.
