Ottawa, Ontario, May 1, 2003 - The Canadian War Museum (CWM) is proud to be a partner and a new official site of the Canadian Tulip Festival. The Museum is just steps away from the main focus of Festival activities in Major's Hill Park and is located right along the tulip route.

Again this year our interactive character, Princess Juliana of Holland, will share her memories of the war period with visitors on May 10, 11, 17 and 18. She will explain why the Netherlands has given tulip bulbs to Canada every year since the end of the Second World War. In addition, you'll discover where the Dutch Royal Family lived during their stay in the National Capital Region and how much its members appreciated the hospitality of the Canadian people. This interactive character will be portrayed by an actor from Dramamuse, the permanent theatre company of the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Please check on presentation times at the CWM reception desk or by calling the information line at (819) 776-8600.

While you're here, take advantage of the visit to chat with Museum guides and discover the historical ties that bind us to the Netherlands. Don't miss the permanent section on the liberation of the Netherlands by Canadian troops in April 1945. The Germans officially surrendered on May 8, known as VE Day in Europe.
