Last Chance to Discover The Mysterious Bog People Gatineau (Quebec), August 26, 2003 — There are only a few days left to see The Mysterious Bog People. This fascinating exhibition, which has had an enormously successful run at the Canadian Museum of Civilization since last December, will close at the end of the day on September 1. It has already attracted more than 300,000 visitors, making it one of the most popular exhibitions in the Museum’s history.
The Mysterious Bog People transports visitors to Western Europe during ancient times. During this period, many peoples lived in close proximity to marshes, where they would sacrifice their most precious possessions in rituals that remain shrouded in mystery to this day. Highlights of the exhibition include the world’s oldest known watercraft, the vestiges of an ancient temple, and mummified human remains — all of which have been excavated from bogs.
The result of a partnership between four major European and Canadian museums, The Mysterious Bog People is presented in Canada by AIM Trimark Investments. The exhibition travels next to the Glenbow Museum in Calgary, where it will run from October 18, 2003 to February 22, 2004.
