New Chair and Vice-Chair appointed to Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation Board of Trustees
Gatineau, November 7, 2003 - Earlier today, Claudette D. Roy was named Chair and Pierre Dufour was named Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation (CMCC), which includes the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Canadian War Museum.
Claudette D. Roy has served as a board member of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation since 1995 and, in 1999, was Acting Chair of the Board of Trustees. Ms. Roy is a professional educator who has played an active role in community affairs in her home province of Alberta and on the national stage. From 1989 to 2002, she was Assistant Principal at École Maurice-Lavallée, a French-first-language school in Edmonton, and teacher of social studies and history. She has initiated many Francophone projects and institutions, including Alberta's first publicly funded French school. She subsequently played an important role on a task force that recommended a model of governance for French schools in Alberta and led to the creation of Francophone school boards in that province. Ms. Roy has received several awards for her community involvement and in 2000 was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. Recently retired from the school system, Ms. Roy is completing a Master’s Degree and directing her formidable energies towards her work with the CMCC.
Pierre Dufour is a senior partner in the law firm of Dufour, Isabelle, Leduc, Bouthillette, Lapointe, Beaulieu in Gatineau, Quebec. He has taken charge of numerous special projects for Federal and Provincial Government organizations and has served as legal advisor to corporations concerned nationally and internationally with a wide rage of issues such as investment, employment and immigration. Mr. Dufour has been an active board member of the CMCC since 1995.
