THRILL RIDE: THE SCIENCE OF FUN on the giant OMNIMAX® screen turns your world upside down!

Hull, Quebec, March 23, 1998 — In common with Toronto and Quebec City, the Canadian Museum of Civilization launches the OMNIMAX® feature Thrill Ride: The Science of Fun, a film long awaited by thrill-seekers in the National Capital Region. Opening on April 1, the film takes full advantage of the large-format screen to present breath-taking visuals as it takes audiences along for the ride. Thrill Ride: The Science of Fun not only traces the history of rollercoasters from the beginning to the present day, but also details the development of motion simulator rides as one of the most exciting innovations in recent film history.

Undeniable queens of the fairground, rollercoasters have long fascinated and terrified us. Why are they so popular? Why do we get such a kick out of being scared? Answers to these questions and more can be found in Thrill Ride: The Science of Fun. The film also takes viewers behind the scenes, where they will learn how lighting, atmospheric effects and modern computer imaging, with its high-definition textures and colours, heighten reality and illusion to create a heart-stopping entertainment experience.

Thrill Ride: The Science of Fun is co-produced by Sony Pictures Classics and New Wave International and is directed by Ben Stassen.
