Coffee and Conversation
Corsets and Courtesies in New France


Gatineau, Quebec, January 14, 2005 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization invites you to a Coffee and Conversation session presented in conjunction with the exhibition Once in French America. Historian Christina Bates will lead you in a fascinating look at 18th-century dance, deportment and dress in France and New France. Come and enjoy a coffee while Ms. Bates gives a commented slide presentation. Characters in period costume will also be in attendance.

This activity is organized in conjunction with Once in French America, an exhibition celebrating the 400th anniversary of French settlement in North America. By bringing together artifacts from over 40 different collections, Once in French America looks at how people lived and adapted in this new land and how they developed societies. The exhibition will be presented at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau until March 28, 2005.

Refreshments will be served.
