Canadian Museum of Civilization wins Tourism award of excellence

Gatineau, Quebec, March 4, 2005 — A top tourism award went to the Canadian Museum of Civilization this week for its outstanding achievements and its contribution to the development of tourism in the National Capital Region. The Museum received the Large Company of the Year award at the annual Ottawa Tourism Awards Gala, held at the Corel Centre on Wednesday, March 2, 2005.

“This is truly an honour we take to heart at the Museum. All of our staff take pride in their work, and their passion translates into more than a million satisfied visitors each year who, we hope and expect, will come back again and again,” commented Dr. Victor Rabinovitch, President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation.

The Canadian Museum of Civilization is the largest and most visited museum in Canada. It brings 1,000 years of history to life in the popular Canada Hall and showcases the history and cultures of Canada’s Aboriginal peoples in the spectacular Grand Hall and the First Peoples Hall. The beautiful architectural complex also houses the acclaimed Canadian Children’s Museum, the Canadian Postal Museum and an IMAX® Theatre.

This summer will feature five new special exhibitions: Cool ’60s Design; Beads of Life: Eastern and Southern African Adornments; Your House, My House; A Caring Profession: Centuries of Nursing in Canada; and Pompeii.
