Vimy Ridge Day remembered at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Gatineau, Quebec, March 30, 2005 — On April 9, 2005, the Friends of the Canadian War Museum invite the public to participate in Vimy Ridge Day, an event that commemorates the 1917 Battle of Vimy Ridge. Come meet uniformed history interpreters in the River View Salon of the Canadian Museum of Civilization, to discuss the battle, view artifacts from the First World War and see the many photographs and maps of Vimy Ridge.
The 1917 Battle of Vimy Ridge is often referred to as the event that crystallized Canadian nationalism and marked our nation’s coming of age. This activity provides you with an opportunity to find out more about what happened at Vimy Ridge.
