NAC Alberta Scene Festival of Arts and Culture Celebrated at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Gatineau, Quebec, April 12, 2005 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization is co-presenting a series of events with the National Arts Centre as part of the Alberta Scene festival from April 28 through May 10, 2005. Alberta Scene celebrates remarkable talent from Alberta in a showcase of more than 600 artists (music, theatre, dance, comedy, film, literature, visual and culinary arts), taking place in more than 20 venues throughout the National Capital Region, including the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
Contemporary Dance Showcase An evening of Alberta’s most exciting contemporary dance, featuring the Brian Webb Dance Company, Tania Alvarado and Helen Husack. April 28 at 8:00 p.m. Theatre Tickets: $20
Aboriginal Celebration! A fun-filled, family-oriented performance, showcasing aboriginal culture and history through traditional and contemporary dance, music, theatre and storytelling. Performers include Red Thunder — The Next Generation, puppeteer DeRic Starlight and Kehewin Native Performance. May 1 at 2:00 p.m. (English only) Theatre Tickets: $12 for adults; free for children under 12
War Hospital A new production from the National Film Board in Edmonton, chronicling the intense drama of the Red Cross medical mission in Kenya. May 3 at 8:00 p.m. (English only) Theatre Free — limited number of tickets available in person at the NAC and the Museum Box Office
Crystal and Cie Francophone music sensation Crystal Plamondon and four of her favourite female singer-songwriters present country, jazz, folk, blues — and a splash of Cajun music thrown in just for fun. May 5 at 8:00 p.m. (French only) Theatre Tickets: $20
Evening of Contemporary Dance An engaging line-up of dance and movement with choreographers Nicole Mion and Bobbie Todd, and dancers Lori Duncan and Natalie Poissant. May 7 at 8:00 p.m. Theatre Tickets: $20
